Mediterranean diet protects against chronic diseases

A Mediterranean diet can protect against a number of chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease, a meta-analysis reports. In the study of more than 1.5 million healthy adults, greater adherence to the diet was associated with a 9% lower overall mortality, a 9% lower cardiovascular mortality, a 6% lower incidence of or mortality from cancer, and a 13% lower incidence of Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease....
