Favourable long-term prognosis for migraine headaches in adolescence

The long-term prognosis of migraine headaches in adolescents is largely positive, but those with a family history of migraine are more likely to have a poorer outcome.The findings come from a 10-year follow-up of participants of a population-based study conducted in 1989 that studied adolescents (ages 11 to 14) with migraine. Of 55 participants with migraine headaches at baseline, 23 (41.8%) continued to have migraine headaches at follow-up, 11 (20.0%) experienced transformed tension-type headache, and 21 (38.2%) were headache-free....
